usually made with spray paint and markers, often made on public property
can be associated with movements of activism, culture jamming, propaganda
often associated with hip-hop, urban or street culture
graffiti culture gained popularity during the late 70s and began corssing over with hip hop culture in the early 80s
- this marked the emergence of graffiti into pop culture
